The story outline is really good and unique just needs more development of the characters and continuity in the plot sequence. For instance, Lex is taken by Judas after offering herself in place of the girls which is a big deal in this time period and Nathan is told what his wife does but he never discusses it with her. The moments the author could use to build tension and suspense to hook a reader are glossed over instead of used to enhance the story. Also, Lex's personality isn't really defined in the book, it's everywhere in that she's lived a sheltered life with a demanding father but the reader is told more than allowed to experience it, and the sexual scenes should be less wanton and more about the relationship between the characters in my opinion. I really think this story could be amazing with some reworking.Product details

First time read a book from this author and I love it. The book told a good love story. The story revealed that love can exist between two people, strangers that is, with hearts to respect, love and understand each other. The plot to the story was interesting and it show what greed can do and how it destroys people. Looking forward to reading more books by author
Never having enjoyed the subject of history, I always appreciate a talented author who can make historical events come to life. Wanda does a wonderful job doing just that – so wonderful that, even though I hardly ever purchase subsequent books in a series after reading the first permafree one (because I am an incredibly picky reader), I intend to read the other two books in this one.
Romance, adventure, drama, history – all wrapped up in one book, and done so with an artfully written story. What more can a lover of fiction ask?
I read about 7-9 books a month, and this month my family and I were out of town most of it so I did not buy that many. I am a big paperback book fan, instead of kindle. But I needed something to read or I thought my head would come off, so I bought this in a rush, and it was AMAZING! The story line is great and the writing is a style that can be followed along with nicely. Just finished the first book and starting the next! Great buy and great read!
Wanda Ann Thomas's THE WARRIOR, set in Biblical times, presents the touching romance in a big story with the sweeping feel of a saga. Although Alexandra and Nathan's story takes center stage, the author includes just enough historical context--locations, customs, religion, politics--with sights and scents and sounds to immerse the reader in the story. Both historical and fictional characters have depth and individual personalities, with strengths and flaws. The many challenges and twists and turns kept me reading way past the time to turn off the light. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
This is an interesting story, but seems a bit short on research into the customs of the times. A sheltered young woman's wanton sexual behaviour seems a bit out of place for a book set in this time.
Seems like the author muddled the betrothal and wedding traditions together, and had little or no understanding of the mourning practices of the times. Nevertheless I read to the end because the basic story interested me.
(One of my pet hates is lack of deep research for the time the author is writing about.)
The setting for THE WARRIOR, is before Jesus arrived on the scene in Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. Wanda Ann Thomas's exciting romance within a bigger story is worth reading and sharing. There is plenty of historical context to keep you entertained. I enjoyed the accuracy of most of the story, so much that you felt caught up and transported to that very time with Nathan, the warrior and Alexandra, the woman he accidentally had to marry. It is a good read.
I couldn't wait to find time to read The Warrior. The author did a good job of bringing to life the biblical time period. It was easy to visualize the opulence of a palace and the mud house of the lowly I've farmer. The characters, especially Nathan and Alexandra were ones I became to care about. I don't usually past to purchase my kindle file books but I'm very tempted to so I can continue this series. Thank you for a great historical romance Wanda Ann Thomas.
